Your concepts should be red hot. Practice, practice and practice. It makes a man perfect. If you happen to see interviews of top 10 rankers in these exams, the running theme is "regular studies with time for yoga, pranayam, etc. Regularity in studies, regularities in solving question papers, analysing and the brush up on weak areas will help you a lot.

I think you are not updated. IIT JEE and AIEEE have been merged and now it is called JEE Mains and Advanced.
Now, Coming to the answer.
You can appear for JEE Mains and on the basis of JEE Mains rank, you can get admission in most of the engineering colleges.
Apart from JEE Mains, you can appear for following exams:
1. WB JEE
2. Orissa JEE
3. BITSAT
4. COMEDK

You need to score around 150 marks for outside Punjab. To get admission in Punjab, you need to get 110-120 marks.

For practice purpose, you may go for other books too, as they've vast number of questions and exercises. You can also check the previous question papers.

No, you would not be able to surpass the cutoff (which is minimum of 300 out of 450) if you only prepare for the 12th syllabus. The 11th syllabus is as important as the 12th and carries equal weightage (might vary a little bit). It is advised that you prepare both the 11th as well as 12th syllabus. The questions would be direct and easy. Just try to focus on the important topics. Hope you do well.

VIT is in top 20 engineering colleges of India. If you are able to get VIT after dropping a year then its worth a try option.

You should read your 11th and 12th NCERT textbooks perfectly and then go for HC Sharma for physics.

Don't drop a year. First, appear for other state level entrance examinations like OJEE, EAMCET, COMEDK, etc. You may get a good option in those exams. If you still don't get good score then you can drop a year and prepare. You can join a good engineering coaching institute as well. Remember, if you drop a year, the competition will increase. Many more would have dropped a year like you and the fresh upcoming batch too will be competing. Think judiciously.
