The degree you choose doesn't matter if you want to get a government job. I would suggest, irrespective of degree you're anyways going to prepare for government jobs so you can pursue a normal degree to make it simple and easy for you. B.Tech degree needs a little more time and hard work than a normal degree, so it might become hard for you to make time and continue your preparation in a regular basis. Instead you can simply go for a normal degree, prepare for government jobs while managing to get good GPA's. I wish you All the Best :). .

If you're interested in any particular engineering course or if you want to go with engineering jobs then go for B.Tech without any doubt. But if you want to go for public sector jobs or government jobs, they I would say, you just need a degree then why make it 4 years with B.Tech when you can have a normal degree in lesser time (3 years).
