Securing a spot in prestigious National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) for a B.Tech programme can be difficult particularly in high demand fields like computer Science and engineering (CSE), given an All India Rank (AIR) of 64,800 and an OBC category rank of 19,600 in JEE Main. It could be difficult to get a spot in the University College of Engineering, Narasaraopet, JNTU's B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) program if you have an AP EAMCET rank of 24,000 and fall into the BC-B category. In the past this institution ECE closure ranks have been far lower, For example the general category's closing rank in 2024 was 12,107.

Although the cutoffs for reserved categories, such as BC-B are frequently somewhat loosened, the difference might not be significant enough to accept a rank of 24,000.
