The eligibility criteria for the GATE exam is Engineering Graduate, while the candidate who has done post-graduate work can appear for CSIR NET (JRF). The syllabus for the GATE exam is less as compared to the CSIR NET exam, and in the GATE exam, we don't have a general studies paper. The GATE exam has a much higher difficulty level than the NET exam. The GATE exam is conducted once a year while the NET exam is conducted twice a year. The GATE score is valid for 3 years, and a candidate can appear for the exam any number of times. There is no age limit for the GATE exam, but if you are preparing for the PSU exam, there is an age limit.

As per the syllabus only 15% weightage is for General Aptitude and remaining 85% for concerned subjects. So concerned subjects takes much time. In ECE Network signals& system, Analog circuit, Digital circuit and control system are too much time consuming.
