GATE AG Stands for Graduate aptitude test in engineering in Agriculture engineering and GATE XL Stands for Graduate aptitude test in engineering in Life Science.

GATE-XL stands for life Science and GATE-XE stands for engineering Science, you can take any one of these according to your background subjects if it is related to mathematics you can go for XE and if it is related to biology/agriculture you can go for XL.

The students who are graduating from IIT and have a CGPA of 8 or above out of 10, can get direct admission without appearing for GATE. And the students who are not from IIT should have to take 750-780 rank for securing a seat in any branch of IIT Kharagpur through GATE.
