Students are trained to be leaders through academic classes, hands-on experiences and a set curriculum for developing their leadership abilities. The curriculum consists of case studies, group projects, presentations and management simulations in order for students to develop decision making capabilities, problem solving and strategic thinking abilities.

Students have the opportunity to assume active roles on campus by participating in clubs, planning events and being involved with school initiatives, which provide them with real leadership experiences due to their involvement with managing teams and responsibilities. Workshops regularly held on topics such as effective communication, personality development and corporate etiquette reinforce students' confidence and interpersonal skills.

Furthermore, students gain valuable insight into real-world business scenarios through mentorship from both professors as well as people who are considered leaders within the industry, internship opportunities and live/ongoing project work provide students with practical experience in leadership development and industry contacts that will assist them in developing the skill set and the mindset necessary to be successful leaders and managers in the corporate business environment.

GIBS Business School uses a systematic mentoring programme that guides students through the entire academic journey. Each student is paired with a faculty mentor who regularly assists them on an individual basis with academic support, pathway to an appropriate career, and personal development. The faculty mentor is expected to assist the mentee in SWOT analysis, goal establishment (for a career), and overcoming obstacles both academically and professionally.

Students will also interact with industry mentors and business executives through guest speaker events, workshops and leadership forums. These successful individuals can provide students with valuable real-world information and insight into the various facets of a career, industry expectations, and the skills necessary to be successful.

To ensure that students remain on track for academic success and placement readiness, regular feedback and performance appraisals will be conducted between students and their mentors as well as with career-based counselors. By using a total mentoring approach, GIBS assists students in their development by increasing their confidence, clarity, and readiness for their chosen profession during their time at GIBS.

Through its organized corporate engagement structure for the PGDM program, GIBS Business School provides students with the opportunity to participate in regular internships and live-projects. The corporate relations and placement teams at GIBS are instrumental in forging new partnerships with a large variety of companies across sectors. The corporate relations and placement teams maintain strong business relationships with all of these organisations through regular engagement and relationship-building activities including guest lectures, corporate meetings, and networking opportunities between current students and alumni.

Internships and live-projects are integrated into the PGDM curriculum; therefore, they are mandatory aspects of the PGDM programme. The corporate relations and placement teams will work with organisations to deploy projects that align with the specialisation of the students, such as finance, marketing, human resources, analytics & operations. This systematic approach to continuous provision of practical experience, enables students to apply theoretical business knowledge from the classroom to real-world scenarios throughout their PGDM studies.

GIBS Business School develops students for new roles in the fields of digital marketing, analytics, fintech, and consulting through constantly evolving curriculum and implementing industry driven learning strategies. The programme encompasses professional courses, certification programs, and experiential modules that focus on new age industries (i.e., Digital Marketing Tools, Business Analytics Software, Fintech Concepts, & Consulting Frameworks).

Students receive practical experience by completing live projects, internships, case studies, and/or assignments, as well as participating in workshops, guest lectures, and mentorship from industry leaders which gives them current information regarding the most up-to-date industry trends/tools/technologies.

In combination with skill development programs, aptitude training, and the preparation for placement, GIBS prepares graduates to take on specialised roles within rapidly growing sectors. Therefore, with current curriculum, practical experience, and strong industry collaboration will produce graduates that will have the skill set needed to succeed in these emerging career opportunities.

Academic faculty provide students with a solid foundation through core management principles, frameworks and academic research based on academic teachings. In contrast, industry practitioner and visiting faculty members provide students with useful, practical information relating to daily operations within their respective corporations, including current market conditions; case studies; and examples of how companies operate in relation to each other, etc.

This balance between both academic and industry faculty allows students to learn both the meaning of what type of action or behaviour is involved and how those actions and behaviours are used within the context of business. Industry faculty will typically share with students examples of the types of real problems they have faced and the types of decisions they have made, and what type of expectations they have for employees working at their companies. This will help create an engaging classroom environment through shared experiences; thus providing students with an integrated learning experience of theory through practice, and as a result, prepare them to perform with confidence in their new corporate careers.

GIBS Business School offers a structured learning approach for students from non-business or non-management academic backgrounds to succeed in the PGDM course through its support systems. Support systems include foundation or bridge courses in principles of accounting, economics, statistics, and basic business principles, allowing them to build core competencies. 

The PGDM curriculum is designed as progressive learning with core subjects that provide practical, hands-on applications of concepts through the case method, use of examples, and interactive approaches. Faculty members also provide supplementary academic support, ie. offering additional support under circumstances that require additional assistance (referred to as "? ). 

As well, communication skills training, aptitude workshops, and group projects support students from a diverse range of academic backgrounds in transitioning confidently into the business world and adapting to working in teams. Students have access to a variety of support structures that will assist them to succeed in the PGDM, regardless of their previous academic experience or qualifications.

GIBS Business School has designed a training method that focuses on placement and prepares students to be successful in both interviewing and in meeting the expectations of corporations. The training begins with a series of finishing-school modules that include; aptitude training, communication skills, group discussions, and mock interviews, all of which will help students feel confident and prepared for a successful interview experience.

Other forms of support for students in the preparation process include resume-building workshops, personality development sessions, and corporate etiquette training which all help students effectively present themselves to potential employers during the recruitment process. Students also have the opportunity to attend guest lectures, leadership talks, and interact with industry professionals. By interacting with professionals, students gain an understanding of the expectations an employer will have and what behaviour an employee should demonstrate in the workplace.

Through internships, live projects and mentoring from industry experts, students will also have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and practical exposure so they are well prepared for an interview and, ultimately, a successful career path. This ongoing preparation of students will give them the confidence, skills and professionalism that will be necessary for them to be successful in the interview process as well as in their future corporate careers.

The GIBS Business School has a structured ecosystem in place to support students interested in entrepreneurship (i.e. innovation, mentoring, and practical experience with a startup). The programme is called the Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship Program (IRE) and involves studentsʼ working with faculty and industry mentors on their entrepreneurial business ideas/research projects/startup ideas.

Students in IRE have the ability to attend workshops on entrepreneurship, attend mentorship sessions for startups, participate in business plan competitions, and network with successful entrepreneurs & investors (i.e. GIBS creates an environment to help students connect with other entrepreneurs and learn from them).

In addition, GIBS encourages students to participate in live projects, internships at startups, and incubation-style activities so they can test their ideas.

By supporting aspiring entrepreneurs in this manner, GIBS helps students develop problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and gain experience launching and managing a business before they even graduate.
