GIBS Business School uses a systematic mentoring programme that guides students through the entire academic journey. Each student is paired with a faculty mentor who regularly assists them on an individual basis with academic support, pathway to an appropriate career, and personal development. The faculty mentor is expected to assist the mentee in SWOT analysis, goal establishment (for a career), and overcoming obstacles both academically and professionally.

Students will also interact with industry mentors and business executives through guest speaker events, workshops and leadership forums. These successful individuals can provide students with valuable real-world information and insight into the various facets of a career, industry expectations, and the skills necessary to be successful.

To ensure that students remain on track for academic success and placement readiness, regular feedback and performance appraisals will be conducted between students and their mentors as well as with career-based counselors. By using a total mentoring approach, GIBS assists students in their development by increasing their confidence, clarity, and readiness for their chosen profession during their time at GIBS.

GIBS Business School has designed a training method that focuses on placement and prepares students to be successful in both interviewing and in meeting the expectations of corporations. The training begins with a series of finishing-school modules that include; aptitude training, communication skills, group discussions, and mock interviews, all of which will help students feel confident and prepared for a successful interview experience.

Other forms of support for students in the preparation process include resume-building workshops, personality development sessions, and corporate etiquette training which all help students effectively present themselves to potential employers during the recruitment process. Students also have the opportunity to attend guest lectures, leadership talks, and interact with industry professionals. By interacting with professionals, students gain an understanding of the expectations an employer will have and what behaviour an employee should demonstrate in the workplace.

Through internships, live projects and mentoring from industry experts, students will also have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and practical exposure so they are well prepared for an interview and, ultimately, a successful career path. This ongoing preparation of students will give them the confidence, skills and professionalism that will be necessary for them to be successful in the interview process as well as in their future corporate careers.

The GIBS Business School has a structured ecosystem in place to support students interested in entrepreneurship (i.e. innovation, mentoring, and practical experience with a startup). The programme is called the Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship Program (IRE) and involves studentsʼ working with faculty and industry mentors on their entrepreneurial business ideas/research projects/startup ideas.

Students in IRE have the ability to attend workshops on entrepreneurship, attend mentorship sessions for startups, participate in business plan competitions, and network with successful entrepreneurs & investors (i.e. GIBS creates an environment to help students connect with other entrepreneurs and learn from them).

In addition, GIBS encourages students to participate in live projects, internships at startups, and incubation-style activities so they can test their ideas.

By supporting aspiring entrepreneurs in this manner, GIBS helps students develop problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and gain experience launching and managing a business before they even graduate.

GIBS Business School combines academic knowledge with hands-on experience by providing many opportunities for practical application inside the classroom and in a work environment. Students learn about fundamental management theories using a variety of instructional methods, such as lecture, case study analysis, and written assignments. The institute also complements core management theories with opportunities for students to gain experience within an organisation through internships, live projects, field trips, and guest speakers from the corporate sector. Student experiences include finishing school modules that serve as career development tools, mentorship sessions, and IRE activities that enable students to gain first-hand exposure to common business problems. GIBS Business School promotes total personal growth through the integration of academic studies and structured skill-building programmes with practical experience. In addition to their regular Academic coursework, students participate in communication training, aptitude development, leadership Workshops, and personality development programmes to develop confidence, presentation skills, teamwork, and professional/Workplace Etiquette. Students at GIBS Business School also have the opportunity to participate in various clubs, cultural events, sporting activities, and have the chance to develop their social and interpersonal skills using the real-world confidence gained from participating in many different types of activities during their time at GIBS. Students are involved in mentorship and/ or internship opportunities, and various live project opportunities and value-added programmes to help develop them as individuals, as well as academically.

The GIBS Business School employs an organized approach to secure jobs for students. The school has placement activities that start early throughout the programme and continue until graduates are placed by connecting students with companies through an established and well-defined placement cell.

The placement staff provides ongoing assistance through finishing school training modules, resume writing sessions, aptitude testing, interview preparation and mock interviewing programs, which give students the tools necessary to secure employment.

The placement office also has strong relationships with employers from many industries and hosts numerous recruiting/placement related events on campus, including pre-placement discussions, campus interviews and job fairs, as well as internships and industry interaction.

The placement office has a placement coordinator and a support team of faculty and student representatives, who serve as the bridge between employers and students, facilitating the transfer of information and scheduling interviews.

Students typically go through two major placement phases. During the first phase, when a student receives an offer, the student leaves the placement process, thereby giving other students an opportunity to secure.

The second major phase of placement allows students to apply for higher-paying or "dream" company positions. By allowing students to apply to other positions, they ultimately have many opportunities to accept more than one offer.

The GIBS Business School placement cell has a focus on continuous skill development through well-defined processes, partnerships with employers, and organized staffing events to ensure students have the necessary skills to successfully secure positions through the placement office.

Through its systematic method of substantial mentorship, hands-on experiences, and ongoing learning, GIBS enables students to have long-term clarity in their careers. Students participate in an individual counselling with developmental assessments and assessments of personality from the start through mentoring programmes, enabling students to develop self-awareness of their strengths, preferences, and competencies for different career choices.

Additionally, students are exposed to different employment roles and sectors via GIBS' provision of actual internships, live company projects, visits to companies, and guest speakers. As students gain hands-on working exposure to different jobs within companies, this exposure enables them to explore a variety of employment options before deciding on one.

The skill sets that students will need for their respective career paths are developed through regular training sessions focused on communication skills, aptitude development, leadership skills, and resume writing.

With the ongoing guidance, support and feedback of faculty mentors, industry professionals and the placement cell, GIBS assists students with identifying specific career aspirations and developing a plan for achieving those aspirations.

GIBS is a very practical learning institution, so you should take part in live projects, internships, industry visits, and guest lectures to gain experience outside of the classroom.
