Heriot Watt University

A few of the unofficial sources claim Heriot-Watt University acceptance rate is 60%, whereas,  some others claim that it is over 70%, and some claim that it is between 80% - 85%. In context to admission to the undergraduate courses, Heriot-Watt University has specified that it weighs the academic record on a high level. Also, the university wants students who demonstrate a strong commitment to the relevant degree program.

But, note that Heriot-Watt University has also specified that not all the applicants have had the same educational opportunities, so it considers each application individually and on its own merits, as well as, applicants meeting the minimum academic entry requirements. Heriot-Watt University entry requirements for Indian students are given below:

Undergraduate Admission

• For most subjects, Heriot-Watt University requires an overall 70% in Year 12 state board high school examinations and at least 70% in the relevant subjects
• For students taking the West Bengal State Board examinations, the passing marks required by the university is 65%

Postgraduate Courses

• For most of the master’s level programs, Heriot-Watt University requires a good first degree in a relevant subject. From most Indian Universities, this means having an overall score of 55% or above
• Also, the university will consider students whose grades are slightly lower than this  (52% or above) from the Universities of Delhi / Mumbai / Madras / Calcutta / Pune / Bangalore / Rajasthan. The consideration shall also depend on other factors like any relevant work experience, quality of references, etc.
