Yes, IELTS is required for Canada Permanent Residency (PR), if you are applying through Express entry or PNP. However, IELTS is not the only exam for this.  TCF Canada, PTE Core, and CELPIP general are some good alternatives of IELTS exam for Canadian PR.

Yes, the university requires international applicants to provide English language proficiency test scores like that of IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and Duolingo, as minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Indian students may or may not need to provide valid language test scores such as IELTS & TOEFL based on their first language of education in past academics being English or not.

Students with first language of past education being English are not required to submit language test scores.

However, Indian students whose first language of education was not English, must satisfy the test scores listed below:

As an international student, it is an admission requirement to take IELTS as English language proficiency is required to be able to study here. Other than English language proficiency, below mentioned are the other admission requirements at MIT School of Engineering:

OET Exam and IELTS Exam are both popular English proficiency tests. OET is only for healthcare workers, while IELTS is for general or academic use. Many people find OET easier because the topics are related to their medical field only. However, IELTS covers a wider range of topics. It depends on your background.

Australian National University considers fulfilling the English Language requirements by international students as a top priority before applying for admissions. For IELTS scores, the requirement for undergraduate programs and post graduate programs is a minimum score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0. Moreover, the university also accepts scores of the following tests as English language proficiency requirement:
