Applicants to the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology's M.Tech programme must have passed the GATE exams. Candidates must also meet the eligibility requirements, which are to have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with an aggregate of 60% for General/EWS & OBC and 55% for SC/ST & PwD. Candidates that meet the requirements must finish the IIST admissions process and secure their seats.

IIST offers financial aid to students accepted into B.Tech and dual degree programs, which is financed by the Department of Space (DoS), Government of India. The assistantship/scholarship pays for costs like tuition, student amenities, a hostel with food, establishment fees, and medical costs.
