IIST is much better. If you want to work in ISRO. IIST is the best place. Isro also takes students directly from iist. If you want to work as scientist in Institutes like Aries, iucaa etc. Both iisc and iist will give you equal chances. IIST have better facilities for research. But iisc has better name. Do Ph.D. from any one of them. You will become great space scientist.

For the year 2020 , 112 marks ( 28.28 % ) out of 396 was closing marks in general category. But this marks will vary from year to year depending on paper difficulty and the students who applied for IIST. In terms of rank , you can have target of getting rank under 10k as of now.
Hope it helps.

The admission in IISST in B.Tech Aerospace Engineering are based on ranks obtained in JEE Advanced (Conducted among the JEE Main qualifiers). So Diploma engineering students are not eligible for admission here. However, if you have completed the 12th with PCM with minimum 75% of aggregate marks than can apply for JEE Main. After obtaining the minimum qualifying marks in JEE Main can be eligible for JEE Advanced.

IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and IIST Trivandrum are offering B.Tech in aerospace engineering course. The admission in IITs and IIST are based on ranks obtained in JEE Advanced conducted among the JEE Mains qualifiers. Hence, first you have to qualify the JEE Main exam and then appear in JEE Advanced exam and obtained the minimum ranks as mentioned below:
IIT-B : 2082
IIT K : 3822
IIST : 11215
The best approach is to join any JEE preparation coaching institutes. Because more than 90% of students get selected in IITs are coming from the coaching centers.
