There is only one tip for students at IMU Navi Mumbai Indian Maritime University, The first year is though and good at the same time .if you follow rules properly your year will be passed easily and if not following rules you will get to know.

There is proper uniform at IMU Navi Mumbai Indian Maritime University for classes. Dress code for playing or moving ouside hostel. Proper uniform ( full sleeve shirt black pant plane belt black socks black formal shoes ) for going outside the campus.

There are no PGs near IMU Navi Mumbai Indian Maritime University, there is hostel in the campus itself for who got admission there and all have to stay there only weather from Maharashtra or any other state .you are not allowed to live outside the campus .

From the fund, the university awards 5 eligible SC/ST students scholarships worth Rs. 50,000 each. The Indian Maritime University, Chennai-Mumbai awards the scholarships on a semester basis. The hostels of Indian Maritime University, Chennai-Mumbai Campus MERI are clean and have all the amenities that are required.
There are single, double, and triple sharing rooms available at the hostel.
The hostel offers the students a warm and secure atmosphere.
Outdoor and indoor activities, a pool, and a medical facility for routine checkups and emergencies are all provided at the hostel.

No, you can not get direct admission to IMU Kolkata. However, you have to clear with a decent rank in IMUCET exam held every year to get admission in Bachelor of Technology in Marine Engineering in IMU Kolkata. You also get a chance to join as a lateral entry in this course after clearing the IMUCET exam.
