Candidates applying for IT Hyderabad through JEE Mains have to satisfy the basic criterion of obtaining a minimum of 75% in Class 12 or must have passed the examination on the first attempt and must be within the 20th percentile of the Boards. Further, the candidate has to secure at least 60% aggregate to get into the University; 55% for candidates belonging to General and OBC categories; and 50% for SC/ST candidates.

Admission process in IIIT Hyderabad is completely merit based for majority of courses.athe admission for B.Tech course is done on the basis of JEE Main score/ Olympiad (KVPY) or through SPEC (Special Channel of Admission). for admission into Dual BTech programmes at IIIT Hyderabad is subject to UGEE (Undergraduate Entrance Exam) and LEEE (Lateral Entry Entrance Exam). for postgraduate programmes you also need to clear entrance exam like GATE.

Admission to the IIIT Hyderabad dual degree is highly competitive, and thus, the cutoff criteria is a must. If there is a cutoff of mathematics in the 12th board of 90 marks, and the student has managed to score 89, then such a student may not qualify directly.
