According to information found on the official IIT JAM 2025 website, the tie-breaking criteria are as follows, in this order:

  • Lower negative marks.
  • NAT (Numerical Answer Type) marks.
  • MSQ (Multiple Select Question) marks.
  • score in 2 marks questions.
  • then score in 2 marks NAT.
  • If the tie still persists, the candidate's Date of Birth (DOB) is considered, with the older candidate receiving the higher rank.
