Hello Kritika,
I hope your preparation for JEE is going great.
In reference to your question, I will suggest you to go for the maximum. Do not aim for less. No matter which category you belong to. It's not like that you are from SC/ST, then you have to score less than others. No, it's not. There is something called self-satisfaction to crack JEE with your maximum capacity.

There is a reason for everything in life and there will definitely a reason for your bad performance, exact analysis of problem along with right corrective measures always ensure success and you are the right judge for this (can also take help from parents, mentor, etc.).
You might be weak in some areas of a particular subject, figure that out and focus on it first, you might be having some speed issues in completing the paper, etc.
Don't get stressed and focus on the right things, results will definitely change in a positive way.

Going to a coaching institute or not is entirely your decision as per your confidence level and your preparation for the JEE exam. A crash course for a month or two followed by a good test series can be beneficial for you or if your basics are clear, then only a good test series must be enough.
