The admission process of NIFT Mumbai MDes includes appearing for the NIFT Entrance exam followed by the personal interview round. Candidates whose NIFT Entrance exam score meet the NIFT Mumbai MDes cutoff are invited for the interview round.

During the PI round, a panel will assess candidates based on the following criteria:
1) Career orientation
2) Suitability for the course
3) Overall academic and extracurricular accomplishments
4) Communication skills
5) General awareness, aptitude, creative thinking, and lateral thinking
