As per the syllabus of Integrated B.Tech + M.Tech in Biological Engineering at IIT Madras, The calculus, Physics, Computational Engineering/Thermodynamics, Engineering Mechanics, Mathematics and Basic Electrical Engineering are studied from Ist to 4th semester. So, Mathematics is needed here for better understanding. While from 5th semester and onward the core subjects are started so Maths is not needed here.

Eligibility criteria: To be eligible for B.Com programme candidates must have an aggregate of 60% or more in English/Hindi and a combination of three best among the following subjects: Mathematics, Accountancy, Economics, and Business Studies/ Commerce. So from above Mathematics is not compulsory if you have studied Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies/ Commerce at the class12th level. Thank you.
