To calculate the percentile of a candidate, the IIM (conducting the exam) follows the CAT marking scheme. The answers will be checked and a raw score will be determined. This raw score will be adjusted through a process called as equating. Then, that score will be normalized across the three sections. Thereafter the normalized score secured by the candidates will be further converted into percentiles for the purposes of shortlisting. However, the exact procedure (including a formula, if any) hasn't been explicitly mentioned by the IIMs, quite strange.

To get into top colleges you need to write MBA entrance exams. Apart from CAT you can go for IIFT, CMAT, SNAP, XAT, MAT, NMAT. Exams like CMAT, SNAP, MAT are comparatively easier to crack than CAT. To get direct admission into any college, you need to check with the respective college.

Hi Shubham,
IITs accept only CAT scores (common admission test) for admission in MBA programs. XAT being an entrance test by a private institute is accepted only by few colleges but not IITs.

Hi,
MAT exam is held for almost two-and-a-half hours. The test covers two hundred (200) questions in 150 minutes. The aspirant is tested in the following five areas: Indian and Global Environment, Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. There are 40 questions in each section. Each question carries one mark, whereas, one/fourth mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to fill the CAT exam form at this stage as the last date has already gone by. Thus, you have to wait till the next notification arrives (maybe August first week).

Unfortunately, there is no good B-School via NMAT which has a cut-off as low as 152. I would suggest you to opt for a retake and try scoring at least 190 (if you really wish) so as to eye a decent B-School like MISB Bocconi or NMIMS Hyderabad. Good luck!
