B.Com is a 3-year course and by the time you reach the final year, you will be eligible to enrol for CAT.
So, I would suggest you join a coaching class now. The earlier the better. In that way, you will get enough time to prepare and there won't be any chance for the loophole. Since CAT is a tough nut to crack.
There are different sections, that will equally need to be focused on.
And being a B.Com graduate myself, I can say that, especially for quants you will be needing time to prepare.

The syllabus of CAT exam generally consists of quantitative aptitude, verbal section (English), analytical reasoning and data interpretation.

Only those who are in their final year of any graduation course or have already graduated can appear for the CAT. So, being in the second year, you cannot appear for CAT exam.
