If you want to pursue higher education, as in Ph.D. you have to get a MBA degree awarded as only a master's degree makes you eligible for Ph.D. However, if you wish to join the corporate world I would suggest PGDM, as the syllabus is updated in comparison to MBAs. I have also come to know that if an institution is offering PGDM, but is AIU affiliated, then their PGDM is equivalent to MBA in legal terms.
