The faculty at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences is a mix of young and experienced. In addition to having advanced degrees, many professors have worked as teachers or in clinical settings at reputable universities. The faculty is generally seen by students as helpful and informed, particularly in core subjects. The quality of instruction can, however, differ somewhat between departments and individual teachers, as is the case with many private institutions.

Because of its solid clinical exposure through a sizable teaching hospital, respectable academic standing, and KIIT's well-established reputation, MBBS is the most sought-after course at KIMS. The programme provides a multidisciplinary setting, simulation labs, and contemporary infrastructure. Due to the institute's relatively easy admission through private quotas and the limited number of MBBS seats in India, demand for it is still high despite its high cost.
