No, DM is not pursued immediately after completing the MBBS degree in India most of the times. Instead, DM is a postgraduate medical programme that follows the completion of both the MBBS and MD degrees.
To become a specialist in a particular medical field like Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, or Gastroenterology, candidates typically complete their MBBS, followed by an MD or MS, and then finally, a DM or MCh program. Each of these stages involves a lot of training and specialisation in their respective areas of Medicine.
