To know which is a better choice, students must weigh both options based on important factors such as fees and ratings. As per official sources, the fees to pursue BDes at NIFT Bangalore range from INR 5.6 Lacs to INR 12.3 lakh. The fees to pursue BDes from the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad is INR 16.84 lakh. In terms of fees, NIFT Bangalore is a better choice.
Moreover, as per Shiksha ratings, BDes at NIFT Bangalore and the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad have been rated 3.5 out of 5 and 3.9 out of 5, respectively. In terms of rating, a BDes from the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad is a better choice.

NID Ahmedabad and NID Bengaluru offer a full-time MDes in various specialiations. Candidates willing to ascertain which among the two is more afforadable for an MDes must compare the course fees at these institutes.
The MDes fee at NID Bengaluru is INR 11.43 lakh for 2.5 years. On the other hand, an MDes at NID Ahmedabad costs INR 12.2 lakh. Comparing the two, NID Bengaluru seems to be the more affordable option for pursuing an MDes. It must be noted that the mentioned fees are sourced from the official websites of the institutes. MDes admission at NID Bangalore is not based on the candidates' scores in the qualifying degree exam. It is based on their scores in the NID DAT, the aptitude test conducted for admissions at various NIDs. However, candidates are required to score enough marks in the qualifying degree to clear the minimum eligibility criteria. The minimum scores specified for various candidates in the qualifying degree exam are as follows:
- Open Category: 50%
- Gen- EWS: 50%
- OBC-NCL: 45%
- SC: 40%
- ST: 40%
- PwD: 40%

There is a common application process for MDes admission at various NIDs. While applying for admission, candidates are required to pay an application fee as per their reservation category. The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable. It can be paid using a Debit/ Credit Card. The category-wise application charges are presented in the table below:

No, the application window for NID Bangalore MDes admissions 2025 is not open. The institute started accepting applications for admission to the current academic year (2025-26) in September. The application window remained open till December. The last date to apply for admission was Dec 6, 2025 (extended). Currently, the institute is conducting the seat allocation process for the MDes programme. The academic year is set to commence on June 30, 2025.
