NIFT Mumbai follows a thorough screening process for BDes admissions. To commence, students must register and fill out an application form on the institute's official website. Before applying, the students must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility requirements. After that, all applicants must take the NIFT Entrance Exam on the scheduled date and at the scheduled venue.

NIFT Mumbai admissions for BDes courses are granted based on marks obtained in the NIFT Entrance Exam. As per the available cutoff data, the last round closing rank for BDes admissions 2024 ranged from 65 to 654 for the general category candidates belonging to All India Quota seats. In 2023, the cutoff for the General AI quota students ranged from 79 to 1029.

NIFT Mumbai admits students to its BDes courses via scores obtained in the NIFT Entrance Exam. For 2025 admissions, this test was conducted by NTA on Feb 9, 2025. Moreover, NTA has also released the entrance exam results. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check their results and download their scorecards by using their login details on the official website.

The allocation of BDes seats at NIFT Mumbai is subject to rules of reservation set by the institute. As per NIFT's reservation policy, 22.5% of the seats are reserved for the admission of SC/ST category students to its BDes course. Out of which, 15% of seats are reserved for SC students and 7.5% are reserved for the admission of ST students.
