Once the applicants have qualified the entrance exam, they must upload the specified documents on the admission portal. After the final selection, selected candidates must visit the NIFT Patna campus for physical verification of documents. They must bring along the following original documents and their respective photocopies:

The NIFT Patna BDes selection process is entrance-based. NIFT conducts a common entrance exam to shortlist candidates for various NIFTs. The exam comprises a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). Based on the performance in the entrance exam, the candidates are shortlisted for the second stage, i.e. a Situation Test. The seat allocation is based on the merit list released by the institute. The merit list is prepared based on the following criteria:
- GAT - 30% weightage
- CAT- 50% weightage
- Situation Test - 20% weightage
