There are numerous respectable nursing schools in Shillong. The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) College of Nursing was founded in 2006 and offers B.Sc. and M.Sc. nursing degrees. Each year the school admits 50 students and 10 students respectively.

School of nursing, Civil Hospital, Shillong for General Nursing and Midwifery has not mention their fees structure but as per government information
- The average course fees across top GNM Nursing government colleges ranges between INR 3,000 – 30,000 with some of the top names being AIIMS Delhi and PGIMER Puducherry
- The average course fees across top GNM Nursing colleges range between INR 40,000 - 1,00,000. As per a report by The Times of India, GNM courses alone produced close to 1.2 lakh nursing students.
