The Central University of Punjab is a reputable and long-standing establishment. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) placed it 100th out of all Indian universities in the 'University (Overall)' category in 2023. It might not be categorically declared the "best" institution in Punjab, but praise for its staff, infrastructure, and academic offerings has been expressed. Since 2012, the university has been regarded as the best newly created central university in India, offering research-oriented master's and doctorate degree programs in a variety of fields. With an average placement record of almost 90%, the university's placement cell helps students find opportunities.

The Central University of Punjab (CUP) requires applicants to have a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates) in order to admit them to its two-year Full-Time M.Tech programme in several specializations. Furthermore, candidates with a valid GATE score are given preference. The university administers the CUET-PG Entrance Exam to applicants who do not have GATE results.

These two colleges are reputed throughout India, both have their own merits and oppurtunities to offer.

We cannot say the course is "better" in one college than the other one by a few factors. It all boils down to personal choice, and preference. Punjab Agricultural University offers UG, masters, Ph.D, Diploma and certificate level programs related to agriculture, horticulture, food technology etc. For UG programs, admission is through ICAR or PUMEET exams. Masters programs require clearing ICAR PG entrance exam followed by state-wise counseling. Ph.D admission is based on Masters qualification, NET exam and interview. Short term Diploma and certificate courses are offered based on 10+2 qualification and merit. International students can apply for UG and Masters programs if they meet eligibility criteria. In-service candidates from related government departments are also admitted to certain programs as per eligibility and merit. The admission process varies across programs from national/state level entrance tests to direct merit-based applications.
