The Department of Law at Panjab University was ranked 27th for Law by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2021. The Department of Law was established in 1959 and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. 
 
Panjab University is one of the top public universities in Chandigarh, India. In 2023, Panjab University received an A+ grade from NAAC, the highest grade the university has ever received. Panjab University is ranked #1001-1200 in the QS World University Rankings 2024.

The Department of Law at Panjab University in Chandigarh is considered one of the best law schools in North India. 
 
The department was established in 1959 and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. In 2021, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked the department 27th for law.

The Department of Law at Panjab University in Chandigarh, India has a placement cell, but some say the placements aren't very good. In 2022, 330 undergraduate and 1 LLM student were placed. The median package for LLB and 5-year undergraduate students was INR 2.3 LPA and INR 50,000 per annum, respectively. 
 
The highest and average packages offered at Panjab University UBS Chandigarh in 2023 were INR 58.48 LPA and INR 13.7 LPA, respectively. The placement rate was 91.30%.

The total tuition fee ranges between INR 36,800 - INR 96,000. It must be noted that this fee is mentioned as per the data available from unofficial sources and hence is subject to change. Candidates can visit the PTU website or the admission office for any queries. Moreover, the total fee at the time of admission can be higher considering other fee elements are also added to it.

Both of the universities are renowned for Engineering courses in the state. IKGPTU offer more BTech courses in comparison to Punjab University (PU). As per the unofficial sources, PTU offers 511 BTech programmes through its constituent and affiliated colleges, while PU offers 32 courses. The median package offered in PTU is recorded to be INR 4.50 LPA and INR 5 LPA at PU. Check the full comparison between the universities here.

Candidates are required to submit important documents at the time of admission/form filling. These documents are required for verification purposes. The documents required at the time of PTU course admissions are:

  1. Class 10 and 12 marksheet
  2. Bachelor’s degree (for PG courses)
  3. School leaving certificate/ transfer certificate/migration certificate
  4. Two-colored photographs
  5. Domicile/ Birth certificate
  6. Caste validity certificate/ ‘H’ Proforma, etc.

Panjab University cutoff for MBA course is based on CAT scores. Candidates who wish to apply for Panjab University admissions to MBA course, must have a valid scores in CAT exam. Candidates must also meet the overall as well as the sectional CAT cutoff. Going as per the past year trends, the overall Panjab University MBA cutoff has been consistent at 85 percentile, whereas for sectional cutoff it is 50 percentile each for General category students. Chandigarh University offers MBA and MBA Human Resource through UBS Chandigarh. For MBA HR, candidates must have 85 percentile each for overall as well as sectional cutoffs.
