At Purdue, students can take part in any of the 1000+ student organizations, as per their interests. In the case of international students, there are over 40 international student groups at the university. Also, there are many events that are conducted for students such as Boiler Gold Rush, Spring Fest, Purdue University Dance Marathon, etc. The Spring Fest is an annual carnival with entertaining exhibits from many academic departments such as Science, Engineering, Technology, etc.

Purdue University was founded in 1869 under the Morill Act of 1862. It is a public land-grant research university and the flagship of the Purdue University System. Finally, in 1869, the Indiana General Assembly chose the Lafayette area for the new institution. This university was founded after Lafayette businessman John Purdue donated land and money to establish a College of Science, Technology and Agriculture. Finally, in the year 1874, the classes began at the university. The total number of students at the university is 58,000+.
