As per the US News and World Rankings 2026, Purdue University does not rank among the top 10 but among the top 50. The Purdue ranking is #43 nationally  but it is ranked as a Top 10  public university in the USA.

Purdue has also made it to the Forbes' list of 'New Ivies' which employers love. As per QS National Rankings 2026, Purdue ranks at #25.

Indian students face higher competition in fields like Engineering and Computer Science at Purdue University in comparison to domestic applicants

While the overall Purdue University acceptance rate is around 49.87%, this rate drops below 20% for Indian students. 

The reason behind this is that Purdue has caps where they can offer admissions to a certain percentage of people only, in-house and international

Yes, for competitive STEM courses like Engineering at Purdue University, Indian students need to have a minimum score of 90 to 95% which translates to around 8.5 to 9.2 CGPA.

It is just the baseline academic need for Indian students. Pudue is very well known for being highly ranked and rigorous. 

So yes, Indian applicants are required to have an outstanding academic record.

Yes, as per the official stats of Purdue University, the students who apply in Early Action have a higher chance of admission than those who wait for the Regular decision. Look at the Purdue acceptance rate in different formats -
