On-campus employment (part-time) is allowed for international students of Rutgers-University Newark. This on-campus employment is allowed only for 20 hours per week when the classes are going on. This can be unlimited during the vacation periods. On-campus employment at Rutgers include fellowships, graduate and teaching assistantships, employment with department, office or unit at Rutgers, etc.

Furthermore, it has USD 37 million in annual sponsored research grants. It is a major urban research university with Schools in Arts & Sciences, Law, Business, Criminal Justice, Public Affairs and Administration, and Graduate School. Research facilities at this university include Rutgers University Brain Imaging Center, Advanced Computing, Advanced Imaging, etc.

The residence halls at Rutgers University Newark are furnished with basic amenities. Things like TV, computer, and decorations will give a homely touch. Note that linens are not furnished by the university. Students can bring sheets, pillows, blankets, pillowcase, towels, etc. Also, bring some 6-7 pairs of casual wear, heavy winter jacket, formal outfits, comfortable shoes, umbrella or raincoat, toiletries and personal care, etc.

 A support service is provided by this university which is Rutgers University Police Department. To get any guard for safety services, students are required to call an extension of the university. Also, note that for safety purpose of students on campus, emergency phones, identified with a blue light, are located throughout the campus.  

Indian Students Association ar RU-Newark is a student-run cultural organisation that represents and celebrates Indian culture, heritage, and traditions. It celebrates Indian festivals like Holi, Diwali, Navratri, etc. Other events conducted by Indian Students Association are Bollywood movie nights, food festivals, and cultural dance performances, workshops and networking events.
