Hostel Fees for first year BTech students at SDM Institute of Technology is INR 30,450. Charges for mess are INR 38,000. So total Hostel fees is INR 68,450. Hostel fee is charged separately from course fee.

To get admission in BTech at SDM Institute of Technology, you have to qualify eligibility criteria. Then you can get admission through any of the following routes:
- Only students who are from Karnataka can take admission under K-CET quota based on K- CET score.
- Students from Karnataka as well those who are not from Karnataka can take admission under COMEDK quota based on COMEDK score followed by counseling.
- Students from Karnataka as well those who are not from Karnataka can take admission under Management quota through valid K-CET/ COMEDK/JEE / AIEEE score. They are selected based on academic merit and ranking.

Candidates need minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST, Category I, 2A, 2B, 3A ,3B) in Class 12 with English, Physics and Mathematics as compuslory subjects and one of Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer/ Electronics to be eligible for BTech admission in SDM Institute of Technology.

Candidates need to have minimum 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ ST/ OBCs of Karnataka) taken together in all the subjects of the final year of Diploma in engineering to be eligible for admission through lateral entry at SDM Institute of Technology. Admission is granted through Common Entrance Test (DCET) conducted by the K-CET Cell. Seats are allotted by K-CET Cell through a centralised counseling process.
