Information Science and engineering is one of the six specialisations of engineering programme offered at SDM- Institute of Technology and a total of 60 seats are offered in this programme. For getting admission in SDM- Institute of Technology the foreign and NRI students should have passed class 12 or equivalent examination recognised by AIU (Association of Indian Universities). The admissions are provided either through COMEDK counselling or on merit basis, needing proofs of their foreign/PIO/OCI status.

The students at SDM- Institute of Technology are given an option to change their branch at the beginning of third semester after the announcement of first-year results. The change of branch and seat allotment is based on vacancy of seats and the final call is done as per regulations and approval of Director of Technical Education and the University.

Yes, the students from the defence background are offered a scholarship called Defence Scholarship at SDM- Institute of Technology. Various other scholarships are also provided such as SDM Trust Scholarship, Sujnana Nidhi Scholarship (SKDRDP), SC/ST Scholarship (SSP), Minority Scholarship (Jain, Muslims, Christian), Karepass Scholarship (OBC), Beedi Scholarship, MHRD Scholarship, Central Sector Scholarship, Sitarama Jindal Foundation Scholarship and Kittur Rani Chennamma Paraskar Scholarship.

After fulfilling the basic eligibility criteria, the non- Karnataka students may apply to the BTech courses at SDM- Institute of Technology by submitting a valid COMEDK score and apply for admission through COMEDK counselling procedure. While Karnataka candidates can apply by submitting to the COMEDK score or K-CET score, followed by counselling.
