Around 90-95% of students from CSE/IT department gets placed in some or the other companies. The package could be as low as 2.8 Lacs or it could be high as 25 Lacs (although only 2 students got that in the entire history), but students at least got a job. Most of the companies which visit the campus are CSE or IT companies so these two branches have a huge number of opportunities here.

Institutes of national importance. Previously, All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was the mode of getting admission in NITs, while IIT-JEE was the mode to get admission in IITs, but now both these entrance exams are replaced by a common exam called as JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). When it comes to the quality of education provided IITs are ahead of the NITs. The professors in the IITs are better and more qualified than the NITs. The way of education and approach is also better in IIT, but it doesn't mean that NITs are not good. There have been founder of companies in India and abroad from both IITs and NITs and they are considered to be as a perfect benchmark by their institutes to prove themselves superior over the others. The research conducted in the US proved that IITians are among the leading founders of the top startups in America.

The state-of-the-art facilities (wind tunnels/supercomputing facilities) provide for easy experimenting. The professors are adept at carrying out research and teaching. This is mostly because 80% of them are IIT alumni-US Ph.D. So they have a very good understanding of how IITians should be taught. Having gone through similar experiences, they are always willing to help out. This is a huge advantage. Aerospace and automobile companies contribute to most of the core sector placements in the branch. Rolls Royce, Airbus, GE, Honeywell, TATA Motors, Mercedes Benz RnD, Mahindra, QuEST Global, Mathworks, Lennox, TVS Motors, Eaton, Atkins, and MRF are a few I can name off the top of my head (in no specific order) that came over this year. Aerospace start-ups and consultancies in the country come for placements too. CFD and FEA profiles are well in demand. Flight mechanics, controls, combustion and thermal engineering also come up occasionally. However, IIT-Kanpur is a bit different from most other IITs in terms of academics. Our grading system goes 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. In most other IITs it is something like 10, 9, 8, 7 That automatically means that if the professor doesn't think you deserve A, you get 8 in IITK and 9 in most other IITs. This worsens as the grade drops to C or D. This puts us at a disadvantage. Also, it is said (I can't verify this) that IITK was built more around research and thus they have higher standards and expectations. As a result, academics at IITK are considered tough.

T guaranteed as dedicated placement cell has not been established, Even though ICT is considered as one of the best institutes for academics where one can study about chemistry and chemical engineering sciences, as far as campus placements are concerned, the scenario is not that up to the mark. If you are considering to opt for higher studies in place of Masters from US then the institute is rather better augmented to be in as it is far ahead than most of the IIT's in this genre. Overall not recommended for a lucrative career, although for research academics it is slightly better than others. IIT-Kharagpur offers some great offers in the international domain with the highest salary up to 82 LPA by Rio Into for Latin American operations in big data analysis role for environmental safety experience. Indian Conglomerates have been lately recruiting some top quality engineers from this institution for roles like HSE safety, Procurement specialist, Field operations, resource analyst, Energy conservation associate, Disaster management as well as some management roles start from career considering top cadre learning induced at IIT. On an average, 8 LPA has been the median salary with the lowest being 4 LPA. Overall, all the students are placed.

VJTI is most preferred and favorite amongst students for its excellent 100% placements record and its overall value. KJSCE on other hand has 80% Placements for CS students on average since 2012. Inspite of being such good brand, the technical committee fails to bring out prominent recruiters with splendid offers. Certainly, it fairs lower compared to VJTI. There are not many core companies that come for the placement for mechanical engineering since the team has not been updated with industry tie-ups, it generally uses alumni connect for placements which make them very mediocre.
