Indian Institute of Technology- Roorkee offers many courses out of which Computer Science engineering is one of the courses which offers about 100 seats to students. After considering the placement report of 2016 for IIT, Guwahati in biotechnology engineering branch, out of the 40 students who enrolled for placements, 32 got placed. Some core companies this visit like Biocon, Narayan Cadillac, Sun Pharma, Ranbaxy, Brenntag Industries, etc. But gave away very few offers, Also these placements were mostly considering Business Intelligence, data analytics, banking finance, marketing and other such companies due to the lack of ample of core biotechnology companies visiting the campus and thus rolled out IT based roles. IIT, Guwahati has dedicated placement and training cell which is huge but they are mostly IT companies with big brand recognition.
