No. The Tier 1 marks for the SSC CGL are not used in the preparation of the final merit list. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted for Tier 2 exam. However, the final selection and ranking is based on the marks obtained in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.

Yes, there is a negative marking in the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam. Candidates need to complete the exam in one hour. 0.50 marks are deducted for each correct answer. Total number of questions asked are 100 and marks provided to each answer is 2 marks. Therefore, total marks are 200.

The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam consists of 100 questions (MCQs) and the duration of the exam is one hour that is candidates need to complete the exam in 60 minutes. Total marks for the exam is 200. The exam will be conducted online.

The Staff Selection Commission will release the SSC CGL Tier 1 Answer key 2026 on the official portal at ssc.gov.in. Candidates required their login credentials to download including the registration number and password to access the provisional answer key. Along with the response sheet will also be released.

The Commission will release the SSC CGL Tier 1 Answer Key after the conclusion of 5 to 10 days of an examination. The Tier 1 exam is expected to be conducted in May-June 2026. Candidates will be able to download their provisional answer key by visiting at ssc.gov.in or through a direct link provided on this page as well once it is released.

Based on the past trends, generally SSC CGL Tier 1 good score is considered as 150+ and the target should be around 165 to 170+ for General category. For OBC or EWS 140 to 150 and target can range up to 160 to 165+.

The application link for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam will be activated at ssc.gov.in. It is expected to be released soon. Candidates will get around 20 days time to fill the SSC CGL application form.

Yes. The Commission released the SSC CGL Tier 2 Result on April 8, 2026. It was released on the official website at ssc.gov.in. The SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam was conducted on January 18 and19, 2026.
