- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
- PwD (OBC): 13 years
- PwD (SC/ST): 15 years
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of military service rendered from the actual age
- Defence Personnel disabled in operation: 3 years
Central Government Civilian Employees who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service: up to 40 years of age (for general category) and up to 45 years of age (for SC/ST category)
Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated and who are not remarried: up to 35 years of age

The candidates should note that the Staff Selection Commission mention the cutoff date for the age calculation and the educational qualification consideration separately. But this year, both are same. The cutoff date for age and educational qualification was August 1, 2025.
The Staff Selection Commission mentioned in the official notification that the closing date of the SSC MTS application will be considered the last date to acquire the essential qualification required for the exam. Candidates who are appearing in their matriculation exam can apply for the SSC MTS exam, but they must ensure that they fulfill the age requirement as mentioned in the official notification. However, it is advised that such candidates should not apply for the exam, as they may not be able to produce their matriculation certificate at the time of document verification. The Commission will release the admit card only to those candidates who have uploaded their matriculation certificate during the application process.

SSC MTS exam is conducted online only as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE). The Commission conducts the SSC MTS exam every year to recruit candidates for the Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). The Commission does not mention any limit to the number of attempts. The candidates can appear for the exam any number of times till they fulfil the age criteria. The Commission also provide age relaxation to the reserved category candidates.
The SSC MTS 2025 exam started on February 4, 2026.

The Commission conducts the Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST) for the Havaldar post. The Commission mentions the requirements for the PET/PST in the official notification. Besides this, the commission also mentions that some categories of PwD are exempted from PET/PST. There is Walking event in the SSC MTS PET. In SSC MTS PST exam, the Commission mentions the physical measurements related to the male and female candidates. Cycling is removed from the PET.
The SSC MTS PET/PST is conducted by the designated authority nominated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

SSC MTS syllabus was revised by the Commission in the latest notification. The new syllabus has added various topics in each section of the SSC MTS paper 1. The paper 2 was removed from the exam. The names of the SSC MTS Paper 1 sections were also changed.The Commission mention the section names and the topic names of the section. The candidates are suggested to prepare all the topics mentioned in the official syllabus. There are four sections in the SSC MTS Revised syllabus. The names of them are given below:
- Numerical and Mathematical Ability
- Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving
- General Awareness
- English Language and Comprehension

The Staff Selection Commission provided the SSC MTS 2022 vacancies breakup with the official notification. The Commission can increase or decrease the number of vacancies anytime before the release of final result. The Commission mentioned the category-wise vacancies for all the age groups.
