An average PTE score is neither too high nor low in the PTE score calculator. As mentioned earlier, every university would have a required PTE score, and candidates are expected to achieve the same or a higher value to be eligible for admission to the university. Candidates are advised to aim for a higher-than-average PTE score as this will not only increase their chances of admission to the university but also make them a frontrunner for any scholarships the university may provide.

The PTE (Pearson Test of English) exam scores range from 10 to 90. This scoring scale is used for both the overall score and the individual scores for the communicative skills, which include speaking, writing, listening, and reading.

Generally, universities in the USA require PTE Academic scores between 50-70, with higher scores typically needed for graduate programs and top-tier institutions. However, a score of 65 or higher is often considered ideal for many universities.

The cut-off marks for the PTE exam are not defined by the Pearson PLC Group (the conducting body of the exam). However, universities abroad define the minimum PTE scores required to get admitted to their pretigious courses. Most Universities require a PTE score 59 to shortlist student applications. Thus, students must aim to receive at least 59 marks on thir PTE exam.

Candidates are strictly advised against using unfair means during the PTE exam. As this would lead to the conducting body severely penalising the candidate which could also include banning the candidate from taking the PTE exam for life.

To successfully start your PTE preparation, begin by thoroughly familiarizing yourself with the exam structure, including its different sections, question types, and time limits. Then, create a structured study plan that incorporates regular practice with official resources, online tools, and practice tests. Focus on improving your English skills in all areas (speaking, writing, reading, and listening), and frequently assess your progress to identify areas for enhancement.

Always buy books from Pearson official publication. Don't use random local books because PTE software changes often. Test books such as "PTE Academic Practice Tests Plus" and coursebooks like "Expert PTE Academic Coursebook B1 & B2" are good to improve you skills for the test.
