Yes, to some extent. Both test quantitative reasoning and logical thinking. But GRE also includes Verbal and Analytical Writing sections. These sections are not part of dMAT exam to study in Germany.

Universities like TUM, RWTH Aachen, and KIT ask for GRE scores for select programs. Mainly in Engineering and Computer Science. Always check the exact programme page.

Just remember, objectives of dMAT and GRE exams are different.

No. The dMAT is just an APS verification requirement for Germany. It does not replace the GRE. If your target German university explicitly asks for a GRE score for admission eligibility, you must still take it.

  • Mid-Oct 2026: First semester of academic year
