International students can apply at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign through official website or Common app for UG and only through specific portal for PG admission. They should follow the basic eligibility and submit all the documents required by the university. The UIUC application deadline for UG and PG programs is given below:

As per the 2025 common data report, over 70,000 students applied at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign for UG admission. Out of the total, more than 31,000 students get enrolled in the program. Students can check the table below for UIUC students statistics:

There is a low chance of selection with GPA of 2.9. As per the selected student profiles, the score obtain by them is 3.7 or above on 4 scale. Students have to aim high GPA to get selected in the UIUC. The university select students with high GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and English language requirements.

The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign offer test option when it comes to GRE scores. This means students who wants to submit the score can submit it along with their application. Also, they should submit letter of reference, SOP, resume, transcripts, and English language requirements for PG admission.

To get admission to any of these institutions is not at all easy. This is because the acceptance rate at MIT and Caltech remains very low. For the class of 2028, MIT acceptance rate is 4.55% and on the other hand, for Caltech, it is 2.57%.  So Caltech is harder to get into than MIT.

In Times Higher Education rankings, Houston University ranks at #401-500 in 2026. Also, in the U.S. - based rankings, this university ranks at #80 in 2026 U.S.-based rankings. For a few subjects, THE rankings  in 2025 are #201-250 for Engineering, #301+ for Law, #301-400 for Business and Economics, #351-300 for Education Studies etc. 

To get admission at Caltech, international students are required to submit the SAT or ACT scores for the fall 2026 entry. It was optional earlier for most years. However, if the finances are an issue, this can be communicated to the Caltech Office of Admissions for a waiver. Look at the minimum scores required in these entrance exams - 

• SAT: 1510+
• ACT: 35+

In 2026, the University of QS rankings is #556. In the previous year's rankings, this university was #651-660. This shows that there has been an improvement in the QS rankings. A few of the subject rankings are #34 for Hospitality and Leisure Management, #51-100 for Engineering - Petroleum #251-300 for Psychology, etc. 

It is definitely not an easy task to get into Caltech as an Indian student as the acceptance rate is only 2.57% for the recent year. To get in, the applicant has to be extraordinary with great academic grades, English language proficiency and more. Look at the Caltech admission requirements given below -
