Yes, the One Skill Retake will be a standard feature for computer-delivered IELTS tests in 2026. This feature allows you to retake one of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) if you are unsatisfied with your score, without having to redo the entire exam.

No major official overhaul of the IELTS exam structure has been announced for 2026. The core format: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking and scoring (0-9 bands) remain the same. However the test is evolving in their IELTS question pattern.

To increase their chances of securing a seat at ASU Indian candidates must uphold good academic profile plus be an active participant in co curricular activities and work on their English skills. Moreover they must ensure to apply early and preferably by the priority deadline of Nov 1, 2026 to ensure that they are admitted to ASU campus grounds. Obtaining strong LORs can help too.

When you can apply depends on whether you're applying from inside or outside the UK.
Applying from outside the UK
The earliest you can apply for a visa is 6 months before you start your course.
Applying from inside the UK
The earliest you can apply is 3 months before your course starts.
You must apply before your current visa expires. Your new course must begin within 28 days of your current visa expiring.
How long it takes to get a decision
You'll usually get a decision on your visa within:
- 3 weeks, if you're outside the UK
- 8 weeks, if you're inside the UK

To study in the top ranked Masters Universities in Australia, the students may be required to submit English language proficiency scores. So, for admission to top ranked Masters of Humanities & Social Sciences in Australian universities, the students should aim to score an overall 6.5 in IELTS. The acceptance rate at Northwestern is 7.2%. For every 100 applicants, only 7 are admitted.
