If we compare the seats offered by the three institutes we will see that IIIT Kottayam has the most amount of seats offered for it BTech programme. IIIT Surat and IIIT Una offer 180 and 207 seats, respectively. On the other hand, IIIT Kottayam offers 556 seats for the BTech programme, which is more than the sum of the seats offered by the other two institutes.

The admission of the NIT Surat Computer Science Engineering course will depend, as always, on the JEE Main rank; it varies yearly according to the number of applicants and seats available. Generally, the candidates from the general category need to score within the top 10,000 to get a desired admission in the home state quota.

Prospective students from the rest of India may need to get a higher rank than that, quite often within 5,000. For reserved categories, the rank cutoff is quite relaxed. Getting a percentile of 97 or more in JEE Main increases the chances of admission significantly.

For entering the Ph.D. in VNSGU, it undertakes a multi-tier admission process. Candidates are admitted with a Master's degree with at least 55 per cent marks or equivalent. All candidates are given a common research methodology and subject specific-content based test followed by a presentation of the proposed area of research to the RAC. The committee decides whom to send to it. Those recommended for selection are required to take registration coursework and clear the prescribed examination. Finally, candidates register upon successful completion of all the requirements put forth by the RAC assessment of their proposals.
