I would say that mechanical engineering has better placements than biotechnology as only few colleges offer it and some of those colleges are not good too.
So you may opt for mechanical engineering.
It is better to choose a good college than a good course as it will help you in future.
If you want to do biotechnology you may do it From IIT Madras, Anna University or SSN College of Engineering.

It's great to hear from you, I am sorry unfortunately we don't have distance learning or executive MBA, we have two shifts for full-time MBA.
But there are provisions for completion of degree in 1.5 years

The admission into post graduate engineering programs at VIT University, you need to clear VITMEE examination with a good rank.
The eligibility is:
Candidates should have graduated with a full-time degree from any recognized University with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks for MCA and M.Tech. degree programmes.
