TISS Mumbai is ranked by the QS World University Rankings 2023 in the bandwidth of 201-250 Rank. The deemed university is ranked 98 by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2023 under the University category, 60 by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2022 under the University category, and 99 by NIRF 2022 under the Overall category.

The modes of Tata Institute of Social Sciences course admissions are offline and online. Admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on entrance exam scores and merit. At the undergraduate level, the deemed-to-be university offers B.Voc, BSc, BA, and various other courses to students. At the postgraduate level, the deemed-to-be university provides MSc, MA, MPH, and various other courses to students. The fee for BSc and MA is INR 12.3Lacsand INR 68,000 - INR 7.48 lakh, respectively. For other fee components please visit the official website of the university.

Yes, in stage 1, students are required to apply for TISSNET entrance based on merit. Those who are selected need to appear for TISS-PAT/ TISS-MAT followed by an OPI round in stage 2. The final score is calculated based on stage-1 and stage-2 performance of the applicants. For TISS admission 2022, however, TISS-PAT/ TISS-MAT were cancelled by the Deemed-to-be University.

It's a moderate-level exam. A candidate with good General Awareness, Aptitude and English can score well in TISS NET exam. Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai conducts TISS National Entrance Test (TISSNET). It is a university-level entrance exam.

The entrance exam is held in CBT mode and the exam paper comprises questions from English Proficiency, Mathematical Skills & Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness.

Exam Mode: Computer-Based Test mode

Exam Timings: 2 pm to 3.40 pm

Test Duration: 1 hour and 40 minutes

Final admission to TISS is offered via TISS NET for all the Postgraduation courses. For PhD, the Deemed-to-be University conducts PhD RAT exam and for the remaining diploma, certificate and short-term courses, the admission is interview-based for majority of the courses.
