To get admission in Rizvi College of Architecture, two-year M.Arch. in Urban Design requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture (B.Arch.) from a recognized Institute with an aggregate score of at least 50%. Candidates from Maharashtra belonging to EWS, Backward class categories, or PWD may be eligible with at least 45%. Applicants must also be Indian nationals.

Urban Planning and Urban Design are important topics in the course curriculum of M.Plan. Urban Planning is the process of planning the infrastructure of a region, especially a city or developed area. Urban Design involves the implementation of the plan keeping in mind the aesthetic and functionality of the spaces.

The differences between Urban Planning and Urban Design are as follows:

Urban Planning

Urban Design

They work on a wider spatial region such as a locality, city or district.

Their work is confined to narrow spaces such as building lanes, parks or pools.

The primary focus is on the utility of the plan.

The primary focus is on the aesthetics along with the functionality of the design.

The process of urban planning is usually done on a two-dimensional level.

The process of urban design is usually done on a three-dimensional level.

It offers long-term solutions to unplanned or ill-planned spaces.

It offers short-term solutions to spaces lacking design elements in them.

B.ArchCandidate who have passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised Institute/ University can also apply.
Candidates appearing for 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics in the current year may also provisionally appear for NATA-2023.
