What is Child Psychology and Pedagogy in Teaching?

Both psychology and pedagogy go hand-in-hand in teaching. It helps teachers understand the psychological processes of children, specifically how their learning and thinking processes are different from those of adults. The course delves into how children develop their thinking from birth to the end of adolescence. You will also understand why and how children are different from each other. You will be taught about the cognitive, social, moral, and language development theories. You will understand it better with Piaget, Vygotsky, Kohlberg, and Chomsky's teaching theories.

As per the updated syllabus, child pedagogy isn't added as a specific section in entrance exams. This concept now forms the core for Teaching Aptitude, Learning, and Pedagogy concepts for exams like CTET, TET, and DELEd. You might be asked about the Development's Relationship with Learning, Principles of Development of Children, Influence of Heredity & Environment, Multi-Dimensional Intelligence, etc.

Many universities no longer ask a separate Child Development and Pedagogy section in BEd entrance exams. However, concepts are tested under Teaching Aptitude, Learning & Pedagogy, Educational Psychology, and Inclusive Education.
