There are many recognized teacher training programs that any candidate can choose after completing class 12th. They can either start a diploma or a certificate course. 4-year Integrated Course
The duration of the course is four years, and to become eligible for this course one has to pass the 12th board with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks in the Science stream. Doctorate in Education degree holders may get direct admission into the second academic year of this integrated program.
DElEd
DElEd or Diploma in Elementary Education is an elementary teacher training diploma certificate program. Students are trained to make them capable of taking up the role of an elementary school teacher. The duration of the course is two years. To become eligible for the course, one has to pass the 12th board in any stream with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks. This percentage varies from one institute to another.
BPEd
BPEd or Bachelor of Physical Education is also known as the BPE course. This is an undergraduate degree course that focuses only on Physical Education. The duration of the course is three years and to become eligible for the course, one has to pass the 12th board in any stream with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks. BEd
BEd or Bachelor of Education is a post-graduate course. All graduates can pursue the course after completion of their undergraduate bachelor’s degree courses. This degree is necessary for becoming a teacher at the secondary or higher secondary level. The BEd course can also be pursued after completion of the postgraduate course. The duration of the course is two years, and to become eligible for the course, one has to have either a BA or BSc, or BCom degree with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks. One needs to pass a BEd Entrance exam to secure admission to this course.
