The Six-Month Bridge Course for BEd Primary Teachers 2026 training programme for in-service teachers appointed between 2018 and 2023. Conducted by NIOS and approved by NCTE, to ensure primary-level pedagogy skills and validate existing appointments.
The Six-Month Bridge Course for BEd Primary Teachers 2026 has been introduced after major regulatory changes in teacher eligibility norms. This course is compulsory for in service BEd teachers appointed in primary schools between 28 June 2018 and 11 August 2023. It fills the gap between general BEd training and primary level pedagogy to ensure teachers meet required standards.

What is the Six Month Bridge Course for BEd Primary Teachers
This course is designed to upgrade the skills of BEd qualified teachers who were appointed in primary schools under the 2018 notification that previously allowed BEd holders to teach classes 1 to 5. After the notification was cancelled by court orders, the Bridge Course was created as a one time opportunity for teachers to retain their jobs.
The duration of this course will be 6 months.

Why the Bridge Course was Introduced
- The 2018 eligibility change allowed BEd graduates to teach primary classes.
- This decision was challenged in court and later cancelled.
- Teachers appointed during this period would have lost their jobs.

- Registration is online through the official NIOS Bridge Course portal.
- Teachers need scanned copies of their BEd certificate, appointment letter, U DISE code of school, identity proof, and a declaration signed by the head of institution.
- Teachers must carefully verify eligibility before applying.
- Late registration may not be allowed because the course is mandatory.
