PhD is a minimum of three-year and a maximum of six-year programme. Bennett University offers PhD in 10 specialisations at doctoral level. PhD course entails specified coursework and credit requirements for different specialisations, publications and research thesis. The thesis would be the report of research work characterised by either the discovery of new facts or the new interpretation of known facts and theory, or an independent design and development, or the development any new instrument or technology. The university conducts its own entrance exam for shortlisting candidates for PhD courses.

Eligibility:
Candidates with bachelor's degree with honours and a rigorous research report in the major or relevant area of study and 75% marks of 8.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale in the relevant programme can apply for any of the PhD specialisations.

Bennett University opens admission for PhD twice a year. One for even and other for odd semester. BRAT is the research aptitude test required for PhD admission. Below is BRAT tentative dates as per previous year schedule:

The minimum course credit requirement for PhD shall be 10 credits (four research methodology + six others aligned to research plan) for M.Tech qualified candidates. The course work should be done preferably within one semester or maximum two semesters. The credits requirements for students having MSc or equivalent qualification shall be 13 credits (four research methodology + nine others aligned to research plan).
The minimum overall CGPA requirement in course work shall be 7.5 on a 10 point scale for student to be accepted as scholar for PhD degree. If the CGPA of any student is below 7.00, at the end of any semester, his registration will be terminated with immediate effect. However, if his CGPA is 7.00 and above but less than 7.5, he may be asked to take more courses in order to enhance his CGPA to 7.5 or above, subject to the condition that this should be achieved within maximum duration allowed for the course work.
