Dr. YSP University conducts entrance exams for admission to the regular seats, which is applicable only for the Himachal Pradesh's domicile candidates. As for the self-finance seats, entrance exam is not required. Dr. YSP University BSc course is offered across three specialisations, i.e., Forestry, Horticulture, and, Natural Farming. The specialisations trains students in the management of plantations, various cash crops, sanctuaries, botanical gardens and forests.

BSc at Dr. YSP University  is an undergraduate honors degree programme that lasts for four years. BSc admission is both merit and entrance-based.
