I am pretty happy with my hostel life but not with the college. It is decent.
Placements: Mostly everyone gets placed who is eligible for the course. The highest package is 17.5 LPA, the lowest is 6 LPA, and the average package is 7 LPA-8 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Havells, Exxon Mobile, NPCL, BSES, and Jindal Steel.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure of the course and department are average not so great not so bad. There is Wi-Fi all over campus in labs, classrooms, and the library. As this college is very old. It has been more than 100 years. Don't expect great infrastructure at this college. Hostels are decent, Wi-Fi is available, and hygiene is maintained in the hostels.
Faculty: Some faculty members are great. Some are average and some are very bad literally very bad. They treat you like school students. They force you to make notebooks and to present daily. Some faculty members are genuinely good. They try their best to make you understand or be available for any queries and problems.
Other: The best thing about this college is its students and the alumni network. They are always ready to help you.

Good college and decent placement.
Placements: 60-70 percent of students from IT branch got placed. The highest package is 20 LPA, which was offered to 2 students, and the average is 11 LPA. Placement-wise this is decent since it's a state government college. While in the CSE branch the statistics are a little low and lag behind the IT branch.
Infrastructure: Not so very good hostels, especially the boys' hostel are okayish and not too shabby, but I want to mention one incident which took place in Ambedkar hostel, where the chef was washing potatoes with his feet and had slippers on, so not so good but okayish.
Faculty: Fair exams are conducted time to time and are monitored heavily and the faculty here is good and overqualified. Our faculty members have Master's or Ph.D. degrees from IITs. The curriculum holds together well. Since it's a state government college, the faculty is good.

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2029

3.0Placements3.0Infrastructure4.0Faculty4.0Crowd & Campus Life3.0Value for Money
The first-hand HBTU experience.
Placements: The placement percentage in the School of Chemical Technology is above average when compared to NITs. Nearly all students are placed with an average package of approximately 6 LPA-7 LPA. The highest package offered is 17 LPA while the lowest is 3 LPA. The average package for the Chemical Engineering Course ranges between 7 LPA-8 LPA. The top recruiting companies for Chemical Engineering Course are ExonMobill, Reliance, Aarti Industries, IOC, ONGC, etc. Nearly 10-15 students got internships in the 3rd year & 4th year in companies like ExxonMobil, Reliance, IOC, etc. Most of the roles offered are Process Engineer.
Infrastructure: The facilities are still evolving with new construction going everywhere. The Chemical Department is one of the newest infrastructure builds currently thus does not have ACs but is well-equipped with labs, library, classroom with both white and blackboards and good lighting facilities. Bathrooms are also new and remain in satisfactory condition. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus but it is consistent. There are 3 hostels for the first year with the big two on the east campus which house nearly more than 200 students each and have ample space for daily activities and food is average.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified and mostly helpful and provide notes and exam based guidance too. The course for the first year teaches all the aspects of engineering while from the second year the core study starts which is industry oriented. They organise many conferences and submit so that students are interactive and ready with the latest industry knowledge. The semester exams are not that difficult but since it's an absolute grading system you have to study most of the topic to get a good CGPA. The pass percentage is 40 percent with criteria of 15 in the end-semester.
Other: Chemical Engineering is the most prestigious course of this college for which it is known mostly. It even divided its courses into Schools of Engineering CS, IT, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil ) and School of Chemical Technology (Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Paint Technology, Oil Technology, Plastic Technology, Biochemical, BioTechnology). The course for Chemical Engineering is very industry-oriented and thus placements are very good with every student getting placed. The course is good but it has a less interactive approach and is mostly confined to classes and labs.

B.Tech. in Chemical Technology (Oil Technology) - Batch of 2029
4.2
5.0Placements4.0Infrastructure4.0Faculty4.0Crowd & Campus Life4.0Value for Money
Oil Technology don't include mineral oils and gases in HBTU.
Placements: HBTU holds a 100 percent placement record in the oil branch, with many of the students receiving more than one offer. The highest placement this year is 14 LPA, with an average package of 8 LPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA. The top recruiting companies include Ruchi Soya (under Patanjali), ExxonMobil, Reliance, and others. Almost 30 percent of the students in the 3rd year got internships, and almost 20 percent from the 2nd year in 2025. Apart from this, students from the 3rd and 4th years also perform research in the field of oil. The roles of oil technologists are offered.
Infrastructure: The college is equipped with Wi-Fi, advanced labs, and a vast library that has books that are almost 100 years old to the latest journals, research papers, and e-books. For oil, there are 3 labs (one for UG, one for PG, and one for advanced research and Ph.D.). The lab has some of the most advanced equipment in the field of oil, and even samples from IIT come to HBTU for testing in the field of oil. The campus has an infirmary for any medical issues, where a doctor is available 7 days a week, and a field for games.
Faculty: Most of the teachers here are supportive but you have to approach them if you face any specific problem or issue, they will surely look into the matter. The college offers some industrial visits, but they are rare, they do bring experts to teach about current developments in industry. End-semester is a bit hard, some teachers do hard checking (in Physics and electrical). To pass the end-semester, you need 15/50 and a total 40/100.
Other: My batch have 61 students, and the maximum seats are 63. HBTU is the central zone of Oil Technologies Association of India (OTAI), and if anyone is passionate about oil, then every year, experts come to view and support different research and accomplishments. If it's good enough, you may get funding. The oil Technology here does not include mineral oils. There is a good chance that you will not get a hostel due to its limited rooms, but there are about 4 PGs within 300 meters of the college. Do enquire about food in these PGs before joining any.

College is very good and has a powerful alumni network.
Placements: As of 2025, 59 students were eligible out of which 56 got placed in my branch in mechanical engineering. Placement percentage is 107%. Top recruitment companies are Samsung Electronics and TCS which often pick students in bulk. Almost 70% of students got internships from the campus.
Infrastructure: As we know, the college is very old thus the infrastructure is also very old but it gives chills too. The hostel is in bad condition. The mess food is below average for the first-year students. Water quality is bad as of now. Wi-Fi is available, which gives 8 GB per student per day but it is very slow.
Faculty: Faculty as we know are mostly from good colleges, such as IIT and NIT. Some of them have taught in foreign universities also. They are all very qualified, and most are Ph.Ds. Now about curriculum, it is as per NEP but it still lacks practical aspects.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in mechanical field and campus events. The crowd is all good.

Average campus. Placements are excellent for technology & core branches, but average for CS and IT.
Placements: The placement for core and technology branches is excellent. No college of this rank can compete with it. This college is a savior for students with ranks below 60,000- 65,000. For CS/IT, the placement is average. If you are in the top 50%–60% of your class, you will get a minimum placement of 8–9 LPA, a maximum of 18 LPA or more, and the lowest around 3–6 LPA. Most students get jobs as the placement rate is above 90%.
Infrastructure: Currently, IT does not have its own department. First-year classes are held in the lecture hall complex. While second- and third-year classes are in the main building. Classroom infrastructure is average, with some air-conditioned rooms. Fourth-year classes are held in the Computer Science department, whose infrastructure is below average. A new extension for the CS department is being built, which will also accommodate IT students. Overall, the college infrastructure is average, similar to most state government universities.
Faculty: CSE and IT are the chillest courses in the college currently. Professors assign marks based on projects and give plenty of time for independent work. The curriculum is outdated. In the first year, students study irrelevant topics like paint and food technology. However, only the first year is difficult. Senior students say the other years are easy if you study regularly.
Other: This course is comparatively easier than others, but students must learn from other sources and cannot rely solely on the college. Teachers allow time for independent learning, which students should utilize. College events exist but are not very grand. Overall, they are above average. Fests such as the cultural fest Adhyay, the sports fest Agaz, and the technical fest are good and more than average.
